Sources: R. Lopez strikes 1-year deal with Magic

Free-agent center Robin Lopez has agreed to a one-year deal with the Orlando Magic worth $5 million, sources tell ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Lopez became a valuable contributor during his one season with the Washington Wizards, averaging 9.0 points and 3.8 rebounds and shooting 63.3% from the field.

He was almost always available, logging 71 of 72 regular-season games, and helped the Wizards inside after the team lost starting center Thomas Bryant for the season due to a knee injury after 10 games.

Lopez's veteran presence helped Washington navigate a roller-coaster season in which the team endured a COVID-19 outbreak and numerous season-ending injuries. Despite having a 17-32 record on April 5, the Wizards won 17 of their final 23 games to eventually make the playoffs.

At 32 years old, Lopez provides most of his value as a smart and tough defender, but his hook shot remains among the best in the league.

During the Wizards' lone playoff win in the first round against Philadelphia in Game 4, Lopez scored 16 points, making 8 of 11 shots in 18 minutes.

ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk contributed to this report.
